AB704 is a cultured A2 Gir cow ghee marketed by Snehprabha Foods Co. It takes its name from AB704, the proprietary Direct Vat Set culture used to make it, which was developed by ABsource Biologics Private Limited.

DVS stands for Direct Vat Set. DVS cultures are concentrated, freeze-dried lactic acid bacteria that are added directly to milk or cream to ferment it into curd or cultured cream, without needing a starter culture to be grown first.

Cultured ghee is made by fermenting the cream before it is clarified into ghee, rather than clarifying fresh cream or butter directly. The AB704 label describes the product as cultured ghee crafted for enhanced aroma and consistency.

It is ghee made from the milk of Gir cattle, an indigenous Indian breed whose milk carries the A2 beta-casein variant. This describes the composition of the milk. Snehprabha Foods Co. makes no medical or health claim on the basis of it.

The ingredients line on the jar reads: Gir Cow Ghee. The label also states no added preservatives, and gives the country of origin as India.

AB704 comes in 250 ml (Rs 800), 500 ml (Rs 1,650) and 1000 ml (Rs 3,200) jars. Prices are inclusive of all taxes, and every size holds the same ghee.

A sample of AB704 was submitted to an external laboratory for chemical testing under FSSR test references. The results cover 65 documented entries across two reports: a fatty-acid profile, purity and adulteration indicators, and bulk chemical parameters. Every entry is published on the Science page.
